Self‑storage is straightforward: choose a unit size that suits your belongings, sign a simple month‑to‑month contract, pay your first month’s rent, and move your items in using the free trolleys and pallet jacks provided. Only you hold the keys to your private unit, and you may fit your own padlock or purchase a high‑security model from our on‑site store. From that moment your goods stay safely stored until you decide to remove them.
The minimum rental period is one calendar month. There is no maximum – many customers keep a unit indefinitely as an affordable extension of home or office. Agreements roll over month‑to‑month automatically.
For as long as you like. Some clients have kept units for years; the lease simply renews every month until you decide to vacate.
Just 30 days’ written notice before the last day of your current rental month.
No deposit and no lock‑in. All leases are strictly month‑to‑month for maximum flexibility.
South African ID or passport, recent proof of residence, and a signed StoreSmart lease (we can email it for electronic signature).
Yes. A short, plain‑language lease protects both parties and must be completed before move‑in. You can sign on‑site or electronically.
StoreSmart offers lockers from 1 m² up to warehouse‑style rooms of 100 m²+. Popular codes include: XS 1 × 1 m (1 m²), S 2 × 3 m (6 m²), M 3 × 3 m (9 m²), L 3 × 4 m (12 m²) and XL 3 × 5 m + (15 m²+).

Simply talk to reception—subject to availability you can upsize or downsize on the spot with no admin fee, and our team will assist you in relocating your goods.
Typical ceiling height is 2.5 m – 2.8 m, providing generous stacking space. Some units vary; please verify on‑site if height is critical.
Standard access hours are 07:00–19:00, 365 days a year.
After‑hours access can be arranged – just give us at least 24 hour notice.
Office staff are available Monday – Friday 09:00‑17:00 and Saturday 09:00-12:00.
Facilities feature layered security: 24-hour CCTV, on‑site guards, infrared beams, individually locked units, and controlled entrance entry.
Bring your own padlock or buy a high‑security version in our store. Only you retain the keys; staff never enter an occupied unit.
Yes – buildings are fully weather‑sealed and fitted with fire‑detection and fire fighting equipment.
Our team gladly helps move heavier items, and you are free to use our trolleys and pallet jacks at no charge.
Yes – each branch offers sheltered, drive‑up loading bays with ample parking.
Our retail store stocks boxes, tape, bubble‑wrap, mattress covers, padlocks and more – and we’ll even serve you a complimentary coffee while you shop.
We accept EFT, debit orders, credit/debit cards. Rent is payable in advance on the 1st of each month; invoices are emailed monthly.
Yes – look out for student, business and long‑term prepayment specials. Ask our team for current promotions.
Insurance is strongly recommended but not compulsory..
Prohibited items include illegal substances or firearms; flammables, gas cylinders, fireworks; perishables, plants or animals; hazardous chemicals, toxic or medical waste; large amounts of cash or valuables, and stolen goods.
